A number of old shrubs of Adenostoma are scattered aong the blue oaks.",

Also the chromosome structure of A. bowermanae is alleged to be n=13 instead of n=26 as in A. manzanita but the literature did not elaborate how many plants were tested. Therefore this manzanita most logically is hereby declared to be: Arctostaphylos manzanita Parry 1/27/79 Determined by: Walter Knight.",
