In between, two thin columns left each main column and followed the trail to where they met in the middle. There was a gap of 2 meters strewn with carnage, Atta bodies, clumps of minors balled up with mutilated majors. I took photos. For over a month, whenever I passed the area, the battle continued. On 23-IX-80, the battle was the same except the cephalotes column had pushed several meters down closer to the colombica column.",
