The collection is worldwide in scope with an excellent representation of species from Florida and tropical areas such as Costa Rica, Venezuela and Brazil. Important collections include those of Dana G. Griffin, III (Florida, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia), Walter S. Judd, James B. McFarlin, Severin Rapp, and John K. Small. The University of Florida Herbarium is a unit of the Department of Natural History of the Florida Museum of Natural History.
