"dwc:fieldNotes": "NOTEBY J.Longino: Cecropia insignis; small tree on riverbank, multiple stems sprouting from thick base. Nest in a contiguous series of 22 internodes. Entire contents collected, except for 13 cocoons kept alive in bag. There were several workers, 2 males, eggs, and very few larvae (check material later for queen). No muellerian body caches. There was a single large opening at top, through prostoma. Every other internode had a scar over the prostoma, of the same size as the opening at the top. It appears that the Pacycondyla continually open a new entrance in each successive internode. The septa each have a single large circular hole 6-7mm wide. Entrance elliptical, 5.5x3mm. The colony was concentrated in the third and fourth internodes down. Lower internodes contained frass, old cocoon shells. Photos. Later I opened the cocoons in the bag. 2 contained adult males, 5 contained male pupae/pharate adults, 3 contained prepupae, 3 contained unrecognizable goop. [figure in notes; see also #2522-#2528]. NOTEBY J. Longino, NOTEDATE 25-Mar-99: The nest contained 15 adult workers, 2 adult males, 13 cocoons, and a few larvae and eggs. I did not find a queen.",
