Currently located on the 2nd floor, A-wing, of the Baylor Sciences Building, the herbarium was organized by Dr. Floyd F. Davidson in 1967, then chair of the department, with the first curator Ms. Fannie Mae Hurst-Windham. Much of the herbarium is dedicated to Texas flora, though with specimens included from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Central/South America, and China. The herbarium also houses over 200+ specimens from Lindheimer, specifically those specimens near New Braunfels and Comanche Spring.
